2003 Connors Seed Grants for Gender Biology Research
Eight researchers working on four project teams were recently awarded funding through the 2003 Connors Seed Grants for Gender Biology Research, presented by the Mary Horrigan Connors Center for Women’s Health and Gender Biology and BWH’s Research Council. The grants, which serve to fund pilot programs in interdisciplinary research addressing the role of sex and gender in basic biology, health, and health care, provide up to $40,000 per year for two years. The grants are designed to encourage new research initiatives and collaborations in areas related to the impact of sex and gender on health and health care.
“The primary goal is to enhance the hospital’s portfolio of both basic and clinical research related to sex and gender through interdisciplinary research,” said Paula Johnson, MD, MPH, chief of the Division of Women’s Health and executive director of the Mary Horrigan Connors Center for Women’s Health and Gender Biology at BWH. “Generating new knowledge in these areas will ultimately have an impact on improving the health of women and men overall.”
