BWH proudly enlists the help of more than 800 volunteers. Their valued dedication to the BWH community was honored at Tuesday’s Annual Volunteer Recognition event.
“We are grateful for your service, which benefits thousands of patients, hundreds of staff, and many others. Your impact is immeasurable,” said Gary L.Gottlieb, MD, MBA, BWH president. Following Gottlieb, remarks were offered by Cheryl Locke, vice president, Human Resources, and Kris DeGraw Danna, director, Volunteer and Community Access Services, among others.
A special part of the evening’s agenda paid tribute to the 2003 BWH Volunteers of the Year, Bill and Nan Mulford, a husband and wife team who have devoted so much care and time to the BWH community.
Nan travels all the way from Norton, MA, to volunteer her time each week at the Comprehensive Breast Center. Bill also made the commute with Nan to offer his time and service every Tuesday in the Emergency Department. Unfortunately, in the fall of 2002, Bill passed away.
“Bill’s dedication, talent and generous personality are dearly missed,” said Danna. In paying tribute to all the volunteers who have donated their time and energy, Danna said, “Bringing contagious compassion, warmth and generosity are only part of what this great group of volunteers gives to our patients. For this we are greatly thankful.”
