Emergency Preparedness Month
BWH reminds staff to develop personal preparedness plans with a home emergency kit and supplies, a family plan with details for communication and child and elder care, and an understanding of the kinds of emergencies that may occur. At work, staff should collaborate with one another and their supervisors about their roles, participate in drills and review the hospital’s Crisis Resource Manual. LGBT Forum, Sept. 30
BWH will host “Caring for Our LGBT Patients: A Forum for Clinicians, Staff and Patients” on Sept. 30 to identify best practices for creating a welcoming environment for our LGBT patients, 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., in Bornstein Amphitheater. Quality Rounds, Sept. 18
BWH President Betsy Nabel, MD, will host a special Quality Rounds presentation at noon on Sept. 18 in Bornstein Amphitheater and via webcast. “Just Culture in Action at BWH: Stories from the Front Lines” will feature BWH surgeon Edward Whang, MD, pharmacist Caryn Belisle, RPh, MBA, and Emergency Department nurse Christina Caroselli, RN, who will share their experiences with medical errors at BWH. Partners Help Desk is changing its name to IT Service Desk, featuring improved service and easy and secure access over the Internet. It will be accessible via Partners Applications > Utilities > Partners IT Service Desk, or visit the new website at www.partners.org/ISServiceDesk.
Operation Walk Boston
Operation Walk Boston is seeking interested volunteers from Nursing, Physical Therapy and the Operating Rooms to join its ninth mission to the Dominican Republic for one week in March 2015.
