Accepts New Position at Spectrum Health
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Matt Van Vranken this week announced his decision to step down from his responsibilities at BWH to accept the position of President of Spectrum Health Hospitals in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Van Vranken will become the head of the seven-hospital system with more than 13,000 employees and 2,000 licensed beds.
“I truly respect Matt and the decision he has made to accept this exceptional opportunity,” said BWH President Gary L. Gottlieb, MD, MBA. “Over the course of the last six years, Matt has made a tremendous impact on the success and culture of BWH and we wish him all the best in his new position.”
Van Vranken joined BWH as the hospital’s chief operating officer in 1997. “I am incredibly proud of the leadership team we assembled over the last several years,” he said. “Together, we have worked to create an environment that was more responsive to our employees and our patients alike. I have found such gratification in the work we have accomplished together.”
Van Vranken will continue to serve in his current position until May 2.
“While we will miss Matt’s skills as a leader in this organization, I have enormous confidence in the talent and commitment of our senior management team,” said Gottlieb. “I will be working with Matt over the course of the next several weeks to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities.”
