Team Brigham Warms Up for Boston Marathon
Team Brigham, BWH’s Boston Marathon running crew, will once again take to the roadways to raise money and awareness in support of the hospital’s community health programs. Since 1998, when Team Brigham was initially founded, team members, who are each required to raise a minimum of $2,500 in donations, have contributed over $1 million to an endowment ensuring that these health programs, which address the serious needs of BWH’s neighbors in the Greater Boston area, remain funded. “The marathon program is the single largest source of fundraising for BWH’s community health initiatives with 100 percent of runner-raised funds directly supporting these valuable programs,” said Linda Werman, Team Brigham coordinator, LFW Consulting. Ninety-two runners, including 11 BWH employees, will participate on Team Brigham 2003. Of the 92 participants, 22 are returning runners, who have completed the Boston Marathon one or more times previously as a part of the Team.
