Beth McDonald, MBA, BSN, was promoted to Cardiovascular Operations director for BWH this month.
In this role, McDonald is administratively responsible for the Watkins Cardiovascular Clinic and the non-invasive cardiology areas, in addition to the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, the Electrophysiology Laboratory and the Cardiovascular Recovery Room.
McDonald works with the executive medical director of the Shapiro Cardiovascular Center, the associate chief nurse of the cardiovascular nursing and clinical services, and collaborates closely with other institutional leaders to ensure the overall success of the clinical operations and programs of the Shapiro Cardiovascular Center.
She will also collaborate with other interdisciplinary cardiovascular leaders to develop and implement patient safety and process improvement initiatives across the continuum of care.
McDonald has served as nursing director for the Cardiovascular Diagnostic and Interventional Center (CDIC) since 2006. Prior to that, she held positions including assistant nurse manager in the CDIC, senior health care consultant with Cap Gemini Ernst and Young and clinical services coordinator in the cardiac operating room at MGH.
A registered nurse, McDonald holds a nursing diploma from the MGH School of Nursing, a BSN from Boston College and an MBA from Boston University.
