The first full-time medical librarian to be hired by BWH, Ann Fladger looks forward to serving as a resource for all hospital staff.
Although her position at BWH will bring about its own unique challenges, Fladger is already familiar with Partners HealthCare and being part of a Harvard-affiliated medical center in the Longwood Medical Area. Prior to serving as the director of Library Services at North Shore Medical Center’s Health Sciences Library, Fladger was the program coordinator/librarian for The Learning Center at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Fladger also worked as the administrative director and grants administrator for the Department of Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. In addition, she held several librarian positions in school and public library settings.
Fladger received a bachelor of science in Education from Northeastern University and a master’s degree in Library Science from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven. She also completed additional course work at Northeastern and Simmons College and has published materials and delivered presentations on various library services and resources as they meet the informational needs of institutions and networks.
Fladger began her new assignment on October 21 and reports to Chief Medical Officer Andy Whittemore, MD.
