On the heels of winning another national award for its web site, the BWH Web Committee is working with a variety of departments throughout the institution to ensure their presence on the site in a manner that fits the hospital’s overall web policies.
“The hospital web site provides an accessible point of interaction with patients, their families and members of the public,” said Vicki Amalfitano, vice president, Marketing and Planning. “As such, it is incredibly important to work with a set of policies developed by the BWH Web Committee to ensure consistency, accuracy and alignment.”
For those seeking guidance, there are a number of important criteria to consider. First and foremost, resources are available within IS and Marketing to provide training and support to departments, divisions and programs in developing a web presence. If your area is considering using an outside vendor, the same policies and design specifications need to be used, and a project plan should be submitted in advance to the BWH Web Committee. All BWH web pages must reside on a BWH server, and web page designs must follow hospital guidelines and user interface specifications.
