The Kenneth B. Schwartz Center—which has hosted monthly rounds at BWH since 2000 and other hospitals around the country —strengthens relationships between patients and caregivers through education, training and support. “The Schwartz rounds are a multidisciplinary forum for talking about the challenges and triumphs of providing compassionate care to patients,” said Martha Jurchak, director of the BWH Ethics Service, who helps coordinate the rounds at BWH. “A wide range of clinicians sit down to talk about difficult and satisfying aspects of care in complex clinical cases.” This month, the Schwartz Center celebrates its 10th anniversary. As a way to evaluate the impact of rounds at hospitals, the center will host a free symposium open to the public. “Beyond the White Coat and the Johnny: What Makes for a Compassionate Patient-Caregiver Relationship?” will take place on Nov. 3 from 3 to 5 p.m., at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. RSVP to 617-726-0512 or schwartzcenter@partners.org The center’s annual dinner is Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. To purchase tickets, call 617-724-4746.
