To better safeguard newborns and mothers cared for on the Labor and Delivery and Post-partum floors of the Connors Center, enhanced security measures will be phased into current procedures beginning May 2. Such measures on floors 5, 8, 9 and 10 will bolster patient safety and ensure a safer physical environment for patients and staff at Boston's busiest birthing center.
The Single Point of Entry system will require all visitors, family members and staff without Connors Center access-coded ID badges to sign-in at the security desk in the Connors Center lobby. Then, the visitor or staff member will be permitted to use the passenger elevators to access their specific destination among floors 5 and 8 through 10.Visitors will be required to wear identification stickers that will be administered by Security at the lobby checkpoint.
Staff who frequently access the restricted floors, but do not have their ID badges properly coded, should contact Rachel Hall (RHall@partners.org) for the proper form to take to the Security Office.
Staff with full access in the Connors Center are advised to use the service elevators, adjacent to the passenger elevators, off of the ground level Connors Center Lobby. This measure will cut down traffic and wait times for visitors using the main elevators.
