Rachel Wilson, MPH has joined BWH as the new director of Women’s Health Policy and Advocacy, bringing more than twelve years of experience in public health to this new role.
Wilson will develop and implement a new program in Women’s Health Policy and Advocacy at the Connors Center for Women’s Health and Gender Biology. The new policy and advocacy program is an innovative initiative that builds on the hospital’s strengths—as a provider of care to thousands of women, a pioneer in women’s health research, and a leader in academic medicine—to influence institutional, local, and national policies to improve the health and health care of women. Prior to joining BWH, Wilson served as the director of Policy and Advocacy for the Massachusetts Public Health Association (MPHA), garnering support for various public health campaigns; launching and leading MPHA’s Correctional Health campaign; serving as director of the Massachusetts Hepatitis C Coalition; and overseeing MPHA’s legislative and advocacy agenda. She also worked at the Slone Epidemiology Unit at the Boston University School of Public Health for many years, coordinating various aspects of women’s health research studies. In the very early years of her career, Wilson provided health education and counseling to women at the Crittenton Hastings House. Wilson has a master’s degree in Public Health with concentrations in Social and Behavioral Sciences and Health Services from Boston University.
