The Association of Multi-Cultural Members of Partners (AMMP) recently honored its 2001 educational scholarship recipients at a luncheon on August 13. Debbra Sargeant, Jacqueline Rodriguez-Louis, Marilou Lee, Cheryl Rodriguez-Philip, Hyun Joon Chung, Katrina Harris and Michelle Thomas were this year’s recipients. BWH president Jeffrey Otten presented certificates and scholarship checks totaling $6,000 to the recipients.
“I welcome the challenge from AMMP to demonstrate my leadership qualities to enhance the community of nursing. I hope to provide a leadership role at all levels and areas while using my educational achievements to foster new ideas and encourage academic growth within the Partners HealthCare and the local community,” said recipient Katrina Harris, as she addressed the group. Harris is currently attending Quincy College in pursuit of her nursing degree.
“Achieving my educational goals will impact me in ways that I’m sure are beyond my imagination,” added Harris.
In addition to offering educational scholarships to provide qualified underrepresented minorities with the skills and training to advance professionally, AMMP seeks to achieve its mission in other ways. The organization has sponsored job fairs and educational seminars for continued professional growth, created networking opportunities, and developed mentoring programs.
The AMMP is open to all Partners employees who are committed to the advancement, retention, recruitment and development of multicultural professionals into leadership roles at all levels and areas of Partners.
