According to a preliminary report from the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), BWH/DFCI laboratories have obtained accreditation as a result of JCAHO’s seven-day survey at the beginning of March. According to Jack McCabe, administrative director, Clinical Laboratories, BWH laboratories received a preliminary score of 96 out of a possible 100 and DFCI laboratories received a perfect score of 100. “These scores are a reflection of our committed staff, who not only exhibited excellence in preparation for the JCAHO survey, but who continue to set and meet the highest of standards on a daily basis,” said McCabe. The JCAHO laboratory survey comes after a hospital-wide survey in January. The laboratory accreditation is valid until 2003, when JCAHO will return for another laboratory survey.
