BWH’s Neonatal and adult ICU nurse interns were recently honored for their commitment, dedication and professionalism at a luncheon held on May 2. All honorees have been participants in the ICU Nurse Intern Program, which educates adult ICU nurses under a new faculty model educational design, and neonatal ICU nurses under a critical care curriculum specific to the newborn in crisis, from June 2000 to present.
The event was organized by Jim Roche, RN, BSN, M.Ed., nurse-in-charge, Central Nursing Resources, who welcomed the group, congratulating the honorees and acknowledging all nurses, whether veteran or novice. Roche also applauded the program's educators, preceptors and mentors, who have supported the up-and-coming nurses.
Throughout the event, Roche; Cathy Saniuk, MS, RN, educator, Critical Care Unit; and Nancy Hickey, MS, RN, director, Personnel Resource Applications, highlighted the importance of the new educational model to enhance ICU nursing at BWH.
The luncheon was well attended by more than 60 nurses involved in the hospital’s various ICU settings.
