Geriatric Williams Scholars Awards Available
The Association of Subspecialty Professors (ASP) is offering the 2006
T. Franklin Williams Scholars Awards. These annual awards of $50,000 to $75,000 fund early stages of academic career development for internal medicine subspecialists interested in geriatric medicine.
Subspecialty awards include: Geriatric Nephrology, due March 10; Geriatric Chest Medicine, due March 31; Geriatric Infectious Disease, due April 1; Geriatric Cardiology, due January 2006; Geriatrics/Health in Aging, due Jan. 10, 2006.
This program provides support to academic internists interested in careers focused on the geriatric and gerontologic aspects of their subspecialty at a time of important career transition, from fellowship to first Candidates must have completed a subspecialty internal medicine fellowship leading to certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine and be within four years of the first faculty appointment. Recipients must also commit 75 percent of their professional effort to research activities, and develop and implement a basic, clinical, translational or health services research project focused on a geriatrics aspect of the subspecialty.
