BWH has announced its Wage and Salary Program for fiscal year 2001 that provides an increase from the 2000 merit-based performance evaluation. The 2001 program also includes enhancements to BWH’s tuition reimbursement.
Effective October 1, employees not covered by a collective bargaining agreement are eligible for a 0-6 percent merit-based salary increase (with a four percent budgeted increase). This is an increase from last year’s 0-5 percent increase (with a 3% budgeted increase). Employees who rate at a three (effective) or better on their performance evaluation are eligible for the available wage and salary increases.
In addition to performance appraisal increases, BWH’s salary range maximums are increasing by four percent, positioning the hospital competitively in the thriving job market.
Another significant enhancement involves BWH’s tuition reimbursement program. Up until now, maximum reimbursement was available only to those employees with five or more years of service. Now, BWH employees will be eligible for maximum tuition reimbursement after only six months of employment. Furthermore, reimbursement will now be offered toward job-related certificate and continuing education courses, in addition to post-graduate degree programs.
“We have worked extremely hard to provide a competitive Wage and Salary Program for employees. The program, in addition to other BWH quality of work life initiatives, represents the hospital’s commitment to its valued employees,” said Cheryl Locke, vice president, Human Resources. “Satisfied and effective employees drive patient and customer satisfaction—that’s what drives financial success and enables us to meet our mission here at BWH.”
