The excitement was infectious last week after government scientists and researchers from Celera Genomics Inc. announced that after more than a decade of work, researchers completed the first rough draft map of the human genome. Celebrating this highly publicized, landmark event are BWH geneticists (standing, left to right) Alan Michelson, MD, PhD, Cynthia Morton, PhD, Frederick Bieber, PhD, Richard Pratt, PhD, Steven Gullans, PhD, and (seated) David Kwiatkowski, MD, PhD, director of the DNA Sequencing Core at BWH. "BWH is home to ground-breaking genetic research, and this discovery will help to advance our ongoing efforts," said Dr. Morton.
