Pharmacy Benefit Information Sessions
Monday, March 6, Noon-2pm, 4-6pm, Tuesday, March 7, 6:30-9:30am, Noon-2pm Connors Lobby (CWN) The recent change in the pharmacy benefit plan has lead to a number of employee questions. As suggested during the February 4th Town Meeting, the Department of Human Resources has coordinated Pharmacy Benefits Information Sessions with available representatives from Merck-Medco and Human Resources. For additional information, please contact your Human Resources Generalist.

Ash Wednesday
Catholic Mass and Distribution of Ashes will take place at 12 noon in the Duncan Reid Conference Room. Interfaith Service and Distribution of Ashes will take place at 2 pm. Ashes will also be distributed to patients throughout the day.

Looking to save on taxes and put money aside for retirement? The 403(b) TDA program offered through BWH provides you an opportunity to do both. Irish Heritage Celebration
BWH’s first-ever Irish Heritage Celebration Program will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Bornstein. The program features Dennis P. Ryan, Ph. D., author of Beyond the Ballot Box: A Social History of the Boston Irish, 1845-1917 and A Journey Through Boston Irish History, who will deliver a slide show/lecture, as well as a performance by The Smith Hoolihan Academy of Irish Dance. Changes in the Performance Appraisal Form—What BWH Employees Need to Know
With the changes to the Fiscal Year 2000 Performance Appraisal, employees will not only be evaluated on their administrative/clinical task, but also on their ability to demonstrate a solid knowledge and application of the behavioral competencies most valued by the hospital. This Learning and Improvement Forum, which will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Bornstein Amphitheater, will review the new Performance Appraisal form, review the behavioral competencies, and explain why they are important to the evaluation process. Registration is not required, and more information is available from Maicharia Weir at ext. 7611.
Building Effective Teams: How to Enhance Performance in a Diverse Work Group
Friday, March 17, 10 a.m. - 1p.m. Carrie Hall Conference Center Teams play a very important role in the Brigham community by helping us meet the overall goals of this institution. In building an effective team, we must become aware of and understand the impact of diversity. This workshop is designed to increase team performance by discussing diversity, various types of teams, barriers to team effectiveness, team communication, and team dynamics. Talk to Bright Horizons staff about new day care program
Bright Horizons Daycare will open in June and double the hospital’s current daycare capacity. Patricia Salamone, administrative ombudsman, will be joined by Bright Horizons staff to discuss the new program and answer questions on March 14 at 7:30 a.m. in the Carrie Hall Conference Room and at 12 p.m. in the Duncan Reid Conference Room and on March 15 at 3 p.m. in the Carrie Hall Conference Room. Partners Corporate Training and Human Resources staff are pleased to announce the Manager/ Supervisor Spring Series, offering a total of 23 courses, with 14 new additions. These courses cover many essential management competencies and are targeted for those who currently have direct management and supervisory responsibilities for staff.
