As part of BWH's BluePrint celebration, Radiology hosted more than 50 former staff members and alumni of its training programs for the Radiology Alumni Centennial Homecoming. Guests flew in from as far as Brazil for the day's activities, which included department tours, a photo session on the Harvard Medical School Quad and an evening reception. Former Radiology Chairmen Herbert Abrams, MD, and David Levin, MD, were among those in attendance.
Current Radiology Chairman Steven Seltzer, MD, moderated a symposium that featured presentations on the department's innovative initiatives, including the contributions of the Cardiovascular imaging section to BWH's face transplant surgeries and an overview of the department's rich diversity of research programs. Ferenc Jolesz, MD, presented the keynote address, "Radiology without Borders," which described the work behind the creation of the AMIGO suite and the promising clinical programs that are using the suite to innovate image-guided surgical techniques.
"While we may take pride in these milestones, what we are most proud of are you, our alumni," said BWH President Betsy Nabel, MD. "Your dedication to the field, your efforts on behalf of patients and their families, your leadership, your willingness to mentor the next generation-for all of this, we are honored to have you back here with us today."
