Nursing leadership and the 2010 Mary Fay Enrichment Award recipients.
Established in 1999 by Yousuf and Estrellita Karsh, the Mary Fay Enrichment Award is funded by the Karsh family, Marshall Wolf, MD, and the Department of Nursing. The award provides BWH nurses an opportunity to explore innovative and evidence-based solutions to complex patient/clinical problems and implement them in their clinical practice areas. To date, nearly 42 projects have been funded.
This year, five new projects were selected for the Mary Fay Enrichment Award. They will look at improving patient care in the areas of emergency services, cardiac interventions and the cardiac, surgical and neonatal intensive care, just to name a few.
The Karshes, longtime BWH supporters, created the award in recognition of all nurses at BWH and in appreciation of the compassionate and expert care they have received at the hospital.
This year’s projects and recipients are:
“Bridging the Gap: Integrating Palliative Care in the Critical Care Settings,” Donna Marie Lynch, BSN, RN, CCRN; and Karen Meyers, MSN, RN, CCRN, of the Medical ICU.
“Examination of Standards of Clinical Practice for the Care of Patients with Transradial Access for Cardiac Procedures,” Michelle Glowney, MSN, RN, PCCN, of Cardiology Nursing.
