Influenza vaccination remains the most effective flu prevention strategy to ensure patient safety and to protect you, your family and your colleagues from contracting the flu.
This year’s seasonal flu vaccine includes protection against the 2009 H1N1 strain; however, even people who received the H1N1 vaccine last year should get this year’s vaccine to protect them against all flu strains likely to be circulating this season.
Flu shots for employees will be available on the Tower 2 mezzanine from Saturday, Oct. 23, through Sunday, Oct. 31, from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Annual TB screening is available during this time as well. From Oct. 19 to Nov. 17, Occupational Health will visit locations around the distributed campus. Visit BWHPikeNotes.org for a schedule. Please bring your hospital ID and wear loose clothing. Contact Occupational Health Services at 617-732-6034 with questions.
Once again, all employees are required by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to document that they either received a flu vaccination or declined to be vaccinated by Jan. 31, 2011. This will be documented automatically in PeopleSoft for employees who receive the vaccine from Occupational Health or the Peer to Peer Program. All other employees must log in to PeopleSoft and document when and where they received the vaccine, or that they have chosen to decline.
