The Department of Pathology honors its laboratory professionals April 18 through 24 as part of National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week. The theme for this nationwide celebration is “Laboratory Professionals Get Results.” That is certainly true at BWH, where the Clinical Lab Division performed more than 7.4 million tests last year, and the Anatomic Pathology Division processed and signed out more than 75,000 cases.
The work of laboratory professionals is critical in helping to provide necessary information for physicians and nurses to treat patients. BWH celebrates all lab professionals, including the phlebotomists who draw the blood samples, the Lab Control techs and pathology techs who access and process the samples, the pathologists’ assistants and the technicians and technologists who perform many tests.
