Many employees will relish a new, monthly offering from BWH Nutrition: healthy recipes. Each month, dietitians will serve up a nutritious recipe and a tip on healthy eating, accessible via www.bwhpikenotes.org/healthyrecipes.asp
“The Department of Nutrition is committed to helping employees make healthier food choices,” Julie Redfern, RD, LDN, manager of the Nutrition Consultation Service, said. “We hope everyone enjoys and takes advantage of the monthly recipe.”
Recipes will be archived on Pike Notes so that employees can refer to past entries in the “cookbook.” Nutrition aims to provide a variety of recipes, including main courses, appetizers, salads and desserts. BWH Bulletin and ThisWeek@BWH broadcast e-mails will announce when a new recipe is posted at the beginning of each month.
Did you know that the same marinades that add an irresistibly delicious flavor also could protect you from cancer-causing substances that form during grilling? That’s right—just marinate your poultry or lean meat and cook on aluminum foil for optimal protection.
Visit www.bwhpikenotes.org/healthyrecipes.asp to download a recipe for chicken with a light marinade that will bring Asian-inspired flavors to your next barbeque. Satisfy your sweet tooth with a recipe for frozen fruit kabobs, a healthful dessert that is easily customized with an assortment of flavors ideal for entertaining.
