What do New England Patriots, celebrity comic Tony V and BWH Facilities and Real Estate's Joe O'Leary have in common? They were all pivotal to the success of the June 18 ALS Vegas event at Gillette Stadium. Tony V emceed the Casino-style fundraiser, as Patriots Roosevelt Colvin and Christian Fauria added star power, and BWH colleague Joe O'Leary (pictured, speaking at the event), a motor-neuron disease patient, provided the motivation for the event. Planned by a team of BWH employees, the event helped raise funds to support BWH, MGH, the ALS Association Massachusetts Chapter, the ALS Family Charitable Foundation and Curt's Pitch for ALS (the charity established by Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling).
“We wanted to help fight the disease affecting our good friend Joe and his family,” said Chuck Labins, who was joined by BWH Real Estate and Facilities colleagues O'Leary and Jill Anzalone and nurse manager Cynthia LeMay in coordinating this important event, which included cocktails, dinner, dancing, live and silent auctions and 25 gaming tables.
