In This Issue:
Monday’s tragic construction accident on Boylston Street has had a sad and profound impact on both the Brigham and Women’s and Massachusetts General hospital communities, as one of the three people killed in that incident was Michael T. Ty, MD, a resident in our Joint Neurology Training Program. Michael was a selfless, and compassionate physician who labored unceasingly to serve his patients and colleagues. An outstanding member of our house staff, he was highly respected for his intelligence, initiative and capacity for learning. Michael will be greatly missed.
The hearts, thoughts and prayers of all of us at the MGH and BWH go out to Michael’s wife, Robin, his family and his friends who have suffered an overwhelming and unimaginable loss. The two hospitals join together in mourning the loss of Michael and remembering a truly gifted physician, colleague and friend.

Michael’s family expressed their deep appreciation for your prayers and released this statement of remembrance on Wednesday:
Love was the dominant force in the life of Michael Ty, beloved husband, brother and son. Michael’s humble willingness to serve others and his devotion were an inspiration to all who were graced by his presence. Michael’s family has asked for their privacy during this time of grief. They are grateful for the prayerful support of the community and extend their sympathy to the families of the two other men who lost their lives in Monday’s tragedy.
Funeral services for Michael will be private.
