James Griffin, MD Named New Chair of Adult Oncology at DFCI and BWH
James Griffin, MD, has been named the new chair of Adult Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and BWH. Griffin, a hematologist and medical oncologist, former vice chair of research and 25-year DFCI veteran, was appointed on June 17. Griffin was selected following a nationwide search that ensued following the departure of Lee Nadler, MD, in September 2001. The search committee was chaired by Robert Handin, chief of Hematology at BWH, and Stephen Sallan, MD, chief of staff, DFCI.
Griffin’s immediate task is to continue work already under way to reorganize the Adult Oncology Department, which includes 11 interdisciplinary “disease centers” and 45 laboratories.
