Are you ready for JCAHO?
Each year, BWH leaders bestow the Heritage Award on special people whose philanthropy, energy and talents have helped make the hospital an extraordinary medical center. At the new US Courthouse on the night of November 1, a judgment was rendered, and the honor conferred upon three eminently deserving individuals: Charles and Ellen Collis of Barrington, RI, and the hospital’s own Marshall Wolf, MD, vice chairman of Medical Education. Following a reception and dinner, nearly 340 guests enjoyed the awards presentation, hosted by BWH President Jeffrey Otten and Chief Medical Officer Anthony Whittemore, MD. First to be saluted were the Collises, who have given more than $2 million to cardiac surgery and research. In recognition of their many gifts, both the 8th floor of the Patient Tower and the Genome Laboratory now bear the couple’s name. Next up to the podium was Wolf, a generous BWH supporter and beloved mentor to more than 1,000 physicians who trained at BWH. As director of Medical Residency Training from 1972-2000, Wolf helped launch many a distinguished career and saw the BWH program become one of the nation’s foremost, attracting 4,000 applicants annually.
