Two nurse managers have also joined BWH recently:
Maureen Curley, RN, BA, BSN, MSN, (pictured right) is the new nurse manager for 14CD. She joins BWH from Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport, where she was the assistant vice president for patient care. Curley was also the director of education at Anna Jacques. Prior to that, she managed the ED at Lynn and Union Hospital and was the medical/surgical nursing director at Salem Hospital. Patricia Brita Rossi, RN, BS, MSN, MBA, (pictured left) is the new nurse manager for 14AB and 5B. She was previously at Beth Israel Medical Center as the nurse manager of the Emergency Department. Prior to managing the ED, she managed a surgical unit and was involved as a project manager for hospital-wide re-design teams.
Recruitment Efforts pay off
Over the last year, Nursing and Human Resources have been developing and implementing a plan to recruit both experienced nurses and recent graduates of nursing programs. A series of nursing job fairs and open houses along with recruitment efforts at nursing conferences around the country have successfully attracted 170 nurses since January 1. Look for information on upcoming job fairs and other recruitment events in future issues of BWH Nurse.
Welcome to the following 30 nurses joined BWH August 1-August 21, 2000.

Refer a friend for $500 through December 31
BWH has extended its recruitment referral program that provides financial bonuses to current employees who recommend future employees to the hospital.
In an effort to competitively recruit health care professionals in a thriving job market, BWH is rewarding its employees, medical staff and BWH-based Partners HealthCare System employees who refer candidates for open positions at BWH.
Originally slated from August 1 to October 31, 2000, the program has now been extended to December 31, 2000. A bonus of $500 (after taxes) will be awarded to the referring employee after three months, provided that the referred candidate has successfully completed his or her initial review period and the referring employee is an active employee at BWH.
For a copy of the Employee Referral Form or for more information on the program, contact the Human Resources Department (ext. 5790) or your HR generalist.
