As we bring a close to a successful FY 02, we set our sights on the challenges of FY 03. I thank all of you for your dedication to our existing patient care needs and your willingness to strive for future success. Without your commitment to the highest quality care, BWH would not be able to carry out its mission and enjoy its position as one of the nation’s top ten hospitals.
During FY 02, we worked hard to enhance our nursing team with more than 300 new hires. We expanded our team, filling positions with veteran and rookie nurses. Our team continues to strengthen each day.
I applaud your efforts to work collaboratively as a nursing team. It takes a cohesive effort to appropriately blend the talents of seasoned nurses with new graduates, to assist colleagues who change specialties, to work through mastering new technology on our patient floors. You’ve sustained the energy and skill level to meet all of these challenges. Thank you.
As an institution, we are extremely fortunate to have earned the opportunity to attract the best and brightest minds of our compassionate profession. One such example is Ruben Santana, who is highlighted in this issue’s cover story. While grooming future nurses like Ruben, we welcome ambition and the specialized skill sets as valuable assets to our patient care delivery team.
Congratulations on a job well done. As we move forward, I am interested in your ideas and input on how we can do business better. I encourage all of you to share your improvement ideas with your nurse manager or me directly at nkruger@partners.org
Sincerely,
Nancy Kruger, DNSc, RN
