New ID Badges for Physicians, Employees Coming in March
All BWH employees, medical staff, researchers, volunteers and vendors must receive new ID badges in March because the hospital is upgrading its card readers and adopting a color-coding system for badges. All badges will be color-coded to enhance safety and clear up confusion about who is a licensed and credentialed physician at BWH.
The new badges are smart cards that are held up to a card reader rather than swiped.
Physicians who are licensed and credentialed at BWH will have a green stripe on the new ID badges so they can be quickly identified. All other employees and volunteers will have color-coded badges as well.
Stop by the Cabot Atrium Lower Level anytime beginning Sunday, March 9, at 6 a.m. for a new badge. Security will have stations set up around the clock through Saturday, March 22, at midnight. You must bring your old badge. Security will take a new photograph for your new badge and capture a new signature. If you are new, lost your badge or do not have a current badge, go to the ID Office in Neville House, open 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. on weekdays.
Please note: your new badge will not work for about a day because time is needed to transfer your current access data to your new ID. For that period of time, you can use your old badge.
Check BWHPikeNotes.org/ID.asp for times and locations when staff can get new badges at various locations throughout the distributed campus.
