Earlier Deadlines for License Renewal
The Board of Registration in Medicine (BORM) has established changes to the
license renewal process, which will take effect with all January 2005 renewals.
The renewal applications will now be due one month prior to the license expiration,
which is also the applicant’s birthday. The renewal fee is $400. If the
application is not received 30 days before the expiration, a $25 late fee must
be paid before the BORM will process it. If not processed by the expiration date,
the physician will be required to complete a “lapsed application”
and pay a $600 fee. The physician will not be allowed to practice medicine until
the BORM has fully processed the lapsed application and issued a new license.
Please be sure to anticipate this new deadline and avoid any unnecessary delays
in the renewal process.
