BWH and Partners HealthCare are playing a key role in Mayor Thomas Menino’s recently launched citywide cancer screening campaign, in concert with the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC). As the Mayor’s physician and a member of the BPHC, BWH’s JudyAnn Bidgy, MD, is serving as a spokeswoman in the campaign. In addition, BWH is hosting several screenings to help support the “Cancer Doesn’t Care Who You Are” theme of the campaign that urges all citizens to see their doctors regularly and get screened for various forms of cancer.
In addition to her appearance at last Friday’s press conference to kick off the campaign, Bigby teamed up with the Mayor to record a Partners HealthCare-sponsored radio ad that has been airing on WBZ-AM, WTKK-FM and WILD-AM. In the radio spot, Mayor Menino talks about his experience with cancer and he and Bigby urge listeners to schedule their own screenings.
