Rachid Moukhabir, of Biomedical Engineering, receives his PIE award from Partners President and CEO Gary Gottlieb (far left) and BWH President Betsy Nabel.
On Feb. 19, more than 100 individuals from BWH, the BWPO and Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center were honored at the 18th annual Partners in Excellence "PIE" Awards, in addition to 662 members of 51 teams. Awardees' inspiring efforts ran the gamut-a Brookside employee created a department newsletter to recognize staff's efforts, while a member of BWH Engineering identified ways to reduce the hospital's utility costs. STRATUS Center staff were honored for hosting student youth groups through the Center for Community Health and Health Equity, making a lasting impact on students and inspiring them to pursue medical careers.
BWH President Betsy Nabel, MD, shared her heartfelt thanks to recipients for "all they do, day in and day out, to make BWH the special place it is." Vice President of Human Resources Julie Celano thanked attendees for choosing to realize their potential at the hospital, and Joan Vitello, PhD, RN, associate chief nurse for Cardiovascular, Thoracic and Surgical Nursing Services, shared words of encouragement as a past PIE award recipient. Attendees enjoyed a reception in the BWH Cafe Pod B after the ceremony.
