"Go Red" Day, Feb. 7 Join staff and departments across BWH to raise awareness of women's heart health. Send a photo of you and your colleagues wearing red on Feb. 7, National "Go Red" Day, to BWHBulletin@partners.org. Photos will be featured on the TV screens and at BWHPikeNotes.org throughout the day.
Affordable Care Act Resources Many BWH patients have moved to MassHealth CarePlus plans and other new categories of coverage. Partners has created a tool that explains each category, the plans accepted at BWH and where patients in that group can be directed. Any current patient who has been auto-assigned to a MassHealth CarePlus plan, but who may switch to a different plan, can continue to be seen at BWH/BWFH until the change in plan takes effect (within 30 days). For more information, contact bwhpatientfinancialservices@partners.org. Patients can call 617-732-7005.
Date Change: Self-Care in Body and Mind, Now April 22 Donald Levy, MD, will share how integrative medicine can help people take care of themselves, April 22, noon to 1 p.m., in the Shapiro Board Room. The presentation will include information about nutrition and dietary supplements, the meaning of stress and resilience, the science of connection and the latest concepts in neuroscience. The event is co-sponsored by Partners Employee Assistance Program. To RSVP, call 617-732-6017.
News from HealthStream Mandatory assignments have been made for all staff and employees for 2014. This year, attestations are being assigned to the entire BWH community in lieu of full courses, a revised process that reduces the time commitment to complete these assignments. All staff will see the courses that are assigned in HealthStream; staff are required to attest that they have read and are familiar with the topics and know where to find information if they need it. Anyone with incomplete assignments from 2013 will be required to complete the 2013 course assignments before completing the 2014 attestations. Learn more at BWHPikeNotes.org. Email questions to bwhhealthstream@partners.org.
Workplace Wellness focus group Researchers from the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute are conducting focus groups to hear BWH employees' thoughts about workplace wellness programs. The groups will meet onsite at BWH at locations and dates to be determined. Participants will be compensated with $25 cash and a light meal as a token of appreciation for one hour of their time. Groups will primarily be held during the lunch and early evening hours. If interested, email or call Paul Werth at paul_werth@harvardpilgrim.org or 617-509-9972.
