This month, BWH hosted Francis Collins, MD, PhD, director of the National Institutes of Health, for a special Medical Grand Rounds presentation and discussions with physicians and scientists.
“We are at a remarkable time, scientifically, for biomedical research,” Collins said. “It’s unprecedented in terms of opportunities to uncover the causes of diseases and the ability to intervene with new ideas about prevention, diagnosis and therapy.”
Collins discussed the many opportunities as well as challenges that exist in biomedical research and emphasized the need for new forms of collaboration among investigators.
“I can think of no other public servant who has given more of his life, time and energy to serving the biomedical research enterprise in this country than Francis Collins,” said BWH President Betsy Nabel, MD.
Collins’ grand rounds presentation is available for viewing on BWHPikeNotes.org.
