Partners HealthCare and its member hospitals this week unveiled a new section at Partners.org to detail the organization’s commitment to quality, safety and efficiency. Partners on Wednesday launched the High Performance Medicine Report Card at www.partners.org/quality to share publicly quality data that will report on BWH’s and other PHS hospitals’ performance and progress on several key measures.
“We are proud of our leadership role around the transparency of our patient safety and quality data,” said BWH President Gary Gottlieb, MD, MBA. “At BWH and throughout Partners, our care providers are committed to delivering high-quality care, and we believe our patients and their families will benefit by seeing this information firsthand.”
Partners HealthCare President and CEO James J. Mongan, MD, said the system is well-prepared to share quality data even with variations among member hospitals. In some cases, data may show one Partners hospital as a pioneer in advancing a new technology or practice with lessons to be shared with other Partners hospitals.
“Through High Performance Medicine, we have accelerated our use of information technology, increased patient safety and reduced medical errors, worked to make high quality uniform across the Partners, improved care for our sickest and most expensive patients and better managed the use of high-cost drugs and tests,” Mongan said.
In developing the online report card, Partners and member hospital leaders completed an exhaustive review to come up with the best set of measures to demonstrate the value of creating systems of care across the system. The information available in this first posting is just a start.
“Our plan is to continue to add data over time,” Mongan said.
