BWHers in 2005 made outstanding contributions to the hospital and throughout the world, carrying on the tradition of excellence that elevates the success of BWH and Partners HealthCare.
The tenth annual Partners in Excellence Awards ceremony on Dec. 9 celebrated the hard work and contributions of 39 teams and 105 individuals from BWH, the Brigham and Women’s Physician Organization and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
In greeting award recipients and guests, BWH President Gary Gottlieb said, “We are celebrating and recognizing you—not only the excellent care that is delivered, but also the inspiring and innovative spirit of our people, for without you, we would not achieve excellence.”
Chief Operating Officer Kate Walsh announced the names of the award recipients after Gottlieb shared details from a handful of the contributions that make Partners in Excellence award recipients vital players in the success of BWH and Partners.
Among them, many BWHers volunteered their skills to aid survivors of the Indian Ocean tsunami, the Gulf Coast hurricanes and the earthquake that devastated Pakistan. Within the hospital, a group of NICU staff refurbished an outdoor patio, and Tower-10A nurses expertly cared for two pregnant patients with life-threatening cardiac problems, while keeping their patients in good spirits with birthday parties and other compassionate touches.
“Partners in Excellence is about your hard work, your commitment and your drive to excellence that set Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Partners HealthCare apart,” Gottlieb said.
