Water Polo Championship Goes Swimmingly for HMS Student on Rotation
Omar Amr, a third year HMS student on rotation at BWH, showcases his first place trophy for the National Championships in water polo. Amr, who competed in the Olympics in 2004 on the U.S. Water Polo Team, said that his participation in the 2008 Olympics depends on the medical specialty he chooses, and whether he'll have time for the extensive physical training required. Since beginning rotations, he's found that his two major interests share similarities, including the need for discipline and dedication. “I think sports in general prepares you for a career in medicine,” he said. “You work as a team. Everyone has to be working together and covering each other.”
