Dr. Charles Pozner, medical director of the STRATUS Center for Medical Simulation at BWH, received the Mayor's Medallion Award from Newton Mayor David Cohen at the annual Mayor's Prayer Breakfast last week.
A resident of Newton, Pozner serves as medical director for the town's Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) program, which placed AEDs in high schools, middle schools, police cruisers, the senior center, City Hall and the town's Health Department. Pozner's work on the program led the state to designate Newton a “Heartsafe Community.” In addition, Pozner chairs Mayor Cohen's subcommittee on Emergency Medical Service and was a valued member of the Newton Police Chief Search Committee. Pozner also serves on the Regional Faculty of the American Heart Association, the state Department of Public Health Emergency Medical Care Advisory Board and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino's Subcommittee on Emergency Medical Service.
