BWH has launched an internal communications audit to evaluate and improve communications among employees and staff. Staff surveys in recent years have identified hospital-wide communications as needing improvement. In response to this feedback, the hospital this summer is inviting randomly selected BWHers to participate in focus groups as part of an internal communications audit.
The hospital hired Fleishman-Hillard, a firm specializing in communications, to work with hospital leadership and a working committee comprised of representatives from the President’s Office, Support Services, Medical Staff, Nursing and Patient Care Services, Human Resources and Public Affairs.
“This is in direct response to staff surveys. Overall internal communications is an area that we need to improve,” BWH President Gary Gottlieb said.
The internal communications audit working committee during the summer and fall is organizing a series of focus groups that cut across every facet of BWH. “This audit will help us improve our hospital-wide and department-specific communications and strengthen our sense of community,” Gottlieb said.
