Lydia and Ernest Triplett meet Dr. Maureen Okam, at left, whose research the concert and silent auction benefits.
When Lydia Triplett and her father, noted baritone Ernest Triplett, were choosing a beneficiary for his upcoming concert, a national organization told them BWH has the best sickle cell anemia research program in the area.
For the Tripletts, who have several relatives living with sickle cell anemia, this was crucial. Ernest's commitment to fighting the disease-an inherited blood disorder that primarily affects African Americans-is steadfast. On Sunday, he holds the most important concert of his career, which benefits the sickle cell anemia research of Maureen Okam, MD, associate physician in the BWH Hematology Division.
During "A Miracle of Music," Triplett will be accompanied by pianist Fredericka King and perform works by Borodin, Mozart, Purcell, Verdi and others.
The concert will be held at 8 p.m. at the New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall. Tickets can be purchased through the Jordan Hall Box Office at 617-585-1260 and online at www.amiracleofmusic.com
