A brand-new MRI machine was installed on August 5 at the Center for Neurological Imaging (CNI), 221 Longwood Avenue. The new machine will be devoted primarily to neurological imaging of multiple sclerosis (MS) patients, but has the ability and will be used to diagnose and detect other neurological diseases and disorders.
According to the CNI’s Director, Charles Guttmann, MD, the MRI provides the ability to measure the precise volume of a lesion or damaged area and over time, quantitatively determine whether it’s growing.
The CNI officially opened with the machine’s arrival. The CNI is one of three sections of the Multiple Sclerosis Center headquartered at 333 Longwood, which officially opened on April 25.
