BWH appears in the news almost daily, whether it be on local television or in local newspapers or national news outlets. Please remember that hospital policy requires that all media inquiries be referred to the Public Affairs Department. Staff and employees approached by the media should call Public Affairs before agreeing to be interviewed or directing media to other personnel within the hospital. In addition, all media—including photographers or film crews—must be escorted by Public Affairs when present on hospital property. This also applies to photographers or film crews who are on campus for educational film shoots. This policy is meant to benefit the hospital as well as its staff and employees. In addition, staff members are encouraged to alert Public Affairs well in advance of the publication of research in order for the department to develop media awareness of the work. For assistance or further information about the hospital’s written guidelines for dealing with the media, please contact Christine Baratta, assistant director of Public Affairs, at ext. 5002.
