Town Meeting
David Sugarbaker, MD, has been named executive vice chairman of the Department of Surgery. In this role, Sugarbaker will assume new operations, education and research responsibilities. He will chair the OR Committee, serve as director of the Surgical Education Office, administer research space and work on PO development initiatives. “David has had a long and distinguished career at BWH and has built a world class division of Thoracic Surgery,” said Michael J. Zinner, MD, chairman, Department of urgery. “His role within the department, at BWH and at Harvard Medical School (HMS) is highly valued.” Sugarbaker, a professor of surgery at HMS, will continue to serve as chief of Thoracic Surgery.
