Effective July 1, BWH will increase employee parking rates by $3 to $5 per week, on a pre-tax basis, at all locations.
Leadership last year announced that employee parking rates will be assessed each spring, with necessary adjustments made effective July 1 annually.
The adjusted rates, which remain below other Longwood Medical Area institutions, do not cover the cost of the parking program. The employee parking subsidy currently costs the hospital about $3.8 million each year. While this increase will not cover the total cost of the parking program, it will offset some of the loss while moving BWH closer to market rates. The weekly rate comparison is below.
BWH provides commuting alternatives for employees to consider, including a 50 percent subsidy on all MBTA passes, and access to car and van pools. BWH will maintain the 50 percent MBTA subsidy, even as the MBTA increases fares beginning July 1.
