BWH mourns the loss of Stephen “Steve” Kenary, RTR, lead radiology technologist in the Operating Room, who passed away on Feb. 5.
Born in Worcester and formerly of Reading, Mr. Kenary worked at BWH for the past 23 years in the BWH Diagnostic Radiology Department.
His friends and colleagues remember him as a true professional who enjoyed his work. “He was great teacher who made a difference for the student technologists he mentored during their OR rotations in Diagnostic Radiology,” said Charles David Healy, manager of the Diagnostic Radiology Department. “He was extremely proud to work at BWH.”
An avid New York Yankees fan, Mr. Kenary would always boast that his father played in the Yankees organization, said Charles “Boz” Boswell, BSRT, senior radiology technologist, who worked alongside Mr. Kenary for the past decade.
“Other than that, he was the perfect co-coworker,” said Boswell jokingly.
Outside of work, Mr. Kenary enjoyed scuba diving and traveled often to Florida and the Bahamas to dive. He also enjoyed sports cars.
“He was very proud of his Corvette collection. Over the years, he bought and sold about 10 of them,” Boswell said.
A celebration of Mr. Kenary’s life will be held on March 7, at 8 a.m. in the Shapiro Breakout room.
Mr. Kenary is survived by his mother, Patricia A. Kenary; two brothers, James and Robert Kenary; five sisters, Donna Perry, Diane M. Harizi, Nancy J. Wong, Barbara A. McGurn and Joan M. Greenhalgh; and several nieces, nephews and great- nieces and nephews.
