A surprise visit from the Boston Red Sox’s Jerry Remy and Wally the Green Monster was exactly what Kristine Cummings needed on Oct. 28, after having spent more than five weeks as an inpatient at the Shapiro Cardiovascular Center. A true fan, Kristine, 35, has decorated her patient room with all-things Red Sox while she awaits a heart transplant, prompting Michael Givertz, MD, her cardiologist, to arrange the visit from the team announcer and mascot. Cummings has been on the transplant list since December 2008.
