Sebastien de Feraudy, MD, PhD, discusses his research poster with Joseph Murray, MD.
Young investigators last month were honored by the Department of Pathology at its Research Celebration 2010, which featured 67 poster presentations of clinical, translational and basic science research projects.
“Research into the mechanisms and consequences of human disease is a core mission of our department, and the translation of that new knowledge into more effective means for diagnosis, therapy and prevention is our hope,” said Department of Pathology Chair Michael Gimbrone, Jr., MD. “The breadth and excellence of the research activities illustrated in these poster presentations are a testament to the vitality of this enterprise.”
For the fourth year in a row, Thomas J. Gill, III, MD, and Simon J. Simonian, MD, ScD, as well as Nobel Laureate Joseph Murray, MD, attended the event to help recognize the junior faculty, clinical residents and fellows, research fellows and students who conducted research and presented posters.
Distinguished senior research faculty from across the Harvard Medical School community served as judges and awarded Posters of Distinction to Todd Ashworth, PhD, and mentor Jon Aster, MD, PhD; Alison Karst, PhD, and mentor Ronny Drapkin, MD, PhD; and Nima Mosammaparast, MD, PhD, and mentor Yang Shi, PhD, BM.
Liqun Wang, PhD, and mentor Mel Feany, MD, PhD, were honored as this year’s recipients of the Thomas J. Gill, III, MD, and Simon J. Simonian, MD, ScD, Prize for Research Excellence.
