Beginning Monday, June 7, employees may start completing the 2010 Employee Opinion Survey, an opportunity to provide your opinion about what it is like to work at BWH and win raffle prizes in the process. (See list below.)
The survey is available for two weeks, beginning June 7 and ending June 18. Read on to learn everything you need to know about taking the survey, and be sure to take 15 minutes during the next two weeks to provide BWH with valuable feedback that will help the hospital build on its strong foundation of excellence. Based on results, hospital leadership will identify priority areas and action plans for improvements.
In order to protect confidentiality, work units will receive reports only if five or more employees participated. Otherwise, those results will be included in the level above that specific work unit.
Great Prizes
Those who complete the Employee Opinion Survey will automatically be entered into raffles for more than 400 prizes, with a grand prize of airfare for two to anywhere in the Continental U.S. Other prizes include:
iPod
Red Sox tickets
Nintendo Wii and Wii Fit bundle
Bed and Breakfast gift certificates
Pizza and ice cream prizes for departments
Gas cards and BWH parking spots
Participation is voluntary and confidential, and individual responses cannot be linked back to particular employees. An independent firm, Morehead Associates, will receive and process all surveys and generate reports based on the results. This information is strictly confidential. Only the findings will be reported, not individual responses. Demographics (age, gender, etc.) are reported only at the organizational level, not to individual work units. The responses to open-ended questions will be transcribed and combined.
Each department has a survey ambassador who will provide employees with the specific work unit code needed to complete the survey. Ambassadors also will distribute and collect paper surveys as needed.
Online and paper versions are available in:
English
Spanish
Haitian-Creole (paper only)
The survey consists of approximately 60 agree/disagree questions and two open-ended questions.
Click the Start Survey button.
Enter your department/work unit’s code, to be provided by your Survey Ambassador.
Provide demographic data at the end of the survey.
You will be asked to respond to each survey item in two ways:
Performance Scale: In the left-hand six-column block, select the response that most closely describes how much you agree with the item. Neutral means you somewhat agree and somewhat disagree.
Importance Scale: In the right-hand six-column block, select the response that most closely describes how important the item is to you.
If you are running short on time, click the Continue button to save your answers and then click the Save and Complete Later option at the top of any survey page. You will receive a password for returning; you must write it down and keep it secure. When you are ready to complete the survey, re-enter using the original survey address. In the area for Returning Visitors, enter your password where indicated, click Continue Survey, and you will return to the last completed page of your survey with your answers saved.
At the top of most pages, there is an option to Review Answers. This option will take you back through the survey, showing you the answers you have already filled in. You can revise your answers as you review, and you can review your answers at any time during the survey.
Use the navigation buttons (back, continue) and links provided within the survey. Do not use your browser’s back and forward buttons. Make sure you scroll to the end of each section by using the scroll bar at the right before moving on. If you are unsure of how to respond to an item or question, select Not Applicable.
