The Blood Bank will transition to a new system to manage receipt of orders, specimens, testing and dispensing of blood products beginning Dec. 5. The new system features a different, easier-to-use interface with a new look and feel for Blood Bank screens in BICS, eMAR, LMR and other systems.
The Blood Bank implementation team is working with the members of interdisciplinary care teams to ensure a smooth transition to the new system. There may be delays in the first several days after going live in answering phone questions, providing test results and blood products.
There will be no change in the policy, practice and process for ordering blood products, and there will be no change in policy, practice and process for blood administration, except for small changes to the way the Blood Product Transfusion Tag is used.
Resources will be available to answer questions during the transition. Details and screenshots are available on www.bwhpikenotes.org
